A: use before, ago refers to something that has past since what you are about to talk about happened, cor example "it was hungry one lunch ago" means you have etan one lunch since it happened while "it happened before lunch" means that you had lunch after it happened.

Before = earlier than the time we're talking about.

"He found a job two years ago" = he found a job two years before now.

"He found a job two years before he got married" = two years passed between those two events, but that doesn't tell us how much time comes between then and now.
