"Every day" means 毎日。
"Everyday" and "day-to-day" can mean the same thing = 日常。

To lay is to lay down so past laid

Maybe it’s a bit like садиться to sit down

To lie is actually lying down and past of this is lay

Like сидит to be sitting down
