When you defeat a friend at a game, you got the best of them. It is like saying that this moving has proven to defeat me. Proving can mean to test and show that you can. If you have an opportunity to sing for a crowd and are a great singer, you are proving yourself to them.

So, proving to get the best of me is basically saying that this moving is defeating him. It has proven that it has.

For example, imagine if you were better than a friend at playing basketball, but they defeat you. You thought you had it under control and would win, but they have proven to get the best of you.
