Q:
Как сказать на Английском (британский вариант)? Could someone kindly edit this poem which was translated from Korean into a broken English? (on the comment) Some artistic and poetic touch are needed. Thank you very much for your time and effort! Much appreciated! Have a great day/night! :))
A:
Very sombre. I read it as a poem about the inevitability of death and how it is mostly not front of mind, but there anyway. With that in mind, below is my edited interpretation, trying to keep with the sombre mood. My Korean isn't good enough to understand all the words, let alone the poetic nuance, so I've guessed at what you're trying to achieve and interpreted that into English. This means that especially at the end, I took liberties with the words in your own translation. But do change it all - you're the poet!
[Possible Title: My Companion ?]
Numbers on a piece of paper
as I left the embrace of my mother's womb.
Someone placed a piece of paper with a long number
in my bean-like tiny hand.
From that moment my companion was at my side.
On my 100 days celebration. My elementrary school entrance ceremony too.
When we moved out, and at my father's funeral
Grandfather's, grandmother's 60th birthdays, and their funerals too
... and uncle's ...
When I moved to other cities, when I crossed the Pacific Ocean,
he always followed me around
On his face neither joy nor sadness
Always silent. Quietly behind me.
Time goes by, that piece of paper in my hand.
The numbers are getting smaller and smaller.
All this time my companion in the black suit
has been patiently grinding away at that scythe.
I hadn't really noticed it before.

Love at First Sight
Written by Wislawa Szymborska in Polish
Translated into English By Stanislaw Baranczak & Clare Cavanagh
They're both convinced
that a sudden passion joined them.
Such certainty is beautiful,
but uncertainty is more beautiful still.
Since they'd never met before, they're sure
that there'd been nothing between them.
But what's the word from the street staircase hallways—
perhaps they've passed by each other a million times?
I want to ask them
if they don't remember—
a moment face to face
in some revolving door?
perhaps a "sorry" muttered in a crowd?
a curt "wrong number" caught in the receiver?—
but I know the answer.
No, they don't remember.
They'd be amazed to hear
that Chance has been toying with them
now for years.
Not quite ready yet
to become their Destiny,
it pushed them close, drove them apart,
it barred their path,
stifling a laugh,
and then leaped aside.
There were signs and signal
even if they couldn't read them yet.
Perhaps three years ago
or just last Tuesday
a certain leaf fluttered
from one shoulder to another?
Something was dropped and then picked up.
Who know maybe the ball that vanished
into childhood's thicket?
There were doorknobs and doorbells
where one touch had covered another
beforehand.
Suitcases checked and standing side by side.
One night, perhap the same dream,
grown hazy by morning.
Every beginning
is only a sequel, after all,
and the book of events
is always open halfway through.

Try translating this poem from Spanish to English...

the is the mario benedetti:
First in spanish:
táctica y estrategia
mi táctica es mirarte
aprender como sos
mi táctica es hablarte
y escucharte
construir con palabras
un puente indestructible
mi táctica es
quedarme en tu recuerdo
no sé como ni sé
con qué pretexto
pero quedarme en vos
mi táctica es ser franco
y saber que sos franca
y que no nos vendamos
simulacros
para que entre los dos
no haya telón ni abismos
mi estrategia es en cambio
más profunda y más simple
mi estrategia es que un día cualquiera
no sé cómo ni sé
con qué pretexto
por fin me necesites.

tactic and strategy
my tactic is look at you
learn who you are
love you as you are
my tactic is talk you
and listen to you
build with words
a bridge indestructible
my tactic is stay me in your memory
i don´t know how or with what excuse
but stay me in you
my tactic is be sincere
and to know that you are sincere
and let´s not be sold
simulacrum
so that between the two
no curtain, no chasms
my strategy is
that one day any
i don´t know how or with what excuse
finally you are need me.
