Вопрос про Английский (американский вариант)
Personal connections can make competition unfair. Personal connections such as school, hometown, or work ties can affect the result in competitions. For example, in South Korea's soccer match against Japan, Japanese referee covered the fault of Japanese team, because they have country ties. Of course there is the opposite side. A referee tries to be fair, but they sometimes takes side a particular team which they have personal connections to. Like this, persona relations can disturb fair competition. это звучит нормально?

Не совсем нормально
Personal connections can make competition unfair. Such connections include school, hometown, or even work-related ties which can affect the end result of competitions. For example, in South Korea's soccer match against Japan, the Japanese referee sided the Japanese team because they're from the same country, hence the country ties. A referee should be fair, however they sometimes side a particular team that they have personal connections with. Fair competition is thus not shown.
