Do you think it’s a good idea for parents to put money in a trust for their children so that the children can only use it when they reach a certain age?

I can’t understand the work of the word only .
What does it indicate?
What meaning does the word “only “ accompany this sentence with ?

The word "only" means they can use the money exclusively when they are older, so the money will be theirs to spend when they reach a certain age and not before.

The sentence without "only" wouldn't change too much.

Without "only", the meaning of the sentence would be illogical.

Giving the money to the children enables the children to use it (before or after they reach a certain age).

Giving the money to the trust prevents the children from using it before a certain age.

Giving the money to the trust excludes the time before the children reach a certain age from the times the children can use the money.

As @caszztro said, "only" means "exclusively".
