Hello! Could you please answer my question?

I'd like to know ahout the usage of "comprise."
I find it very confusing...

1, Great Britain comprises England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales.
2, Great Britain is comprised of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales.
3, Great Britain comprises of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales.
4, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales comprise Great Britain.

My English dictionary says that only No.3 of the sentences above is incorrect.
Is it correct?
