I’m a student of Japanese high school.
We have a program to study in the U.S. for 11 days in March next year.
Since I’ve never been abroad, I’m really excited and looking forward it!
But I have some concerns.
First, I’m afraid of getting Covid there. We are p planning to visit Hawaii. How is the situation there? Do you think it’s safe to stay in Hawaii for 11 days?
Also, I’m worried about hate crimes. Do you think we will have a terrible experience just because of our race?

I’m not sure about hawaii, covid here is still pretty bad but as long as you take precaution you should be ok. Also, while hate crimes do happen here, the number is so high because of how big this country is, it’s not a regular experience so i wouldn’t worry too much. while i’m not asian, i am jewish which is an ethnic minority here and i have never experienced a hate crime, only the occasional meanness. but especially since you’ll be in hawaii which is both a pretty safe state and also has a high asian population. 11 days is also pretty short lol. hawaii is i think my favorite state i’ve been to its very beautiful im sure you’ll have a lovely time :) also feel free to ask me any other questions about america or anything similar bc i’d be happy to answer and i’ve lived here my whole life :)
