@Sarah553 and the final recomendation, a very traditional Russian new-year movie (we watch it every New Year’s eve):
Ирония судьбы или с легким паром
If you like more drama, you can also try Москва слезам не верит, it’s 1 of 2 soviet/russian movies that won Oscar.
If you like art house or something to think about, also could be Кин-дза-дза (philosophic fantastic).

@Sarah553 depends on your taste very much, i would go for any classics. If you like something big and serious, can try Dostoyevsky “Karamazov brothers”, it’s probably one of the best not only in Russian, but in the world literature, as well as Tolstoy’s “War and peace”. I would recommend to start woth something easier, but still amazing, like Gogol. A lot of humor and mystics at the same time. Also can read Pushkin if you like poetry, he’s just the best. Also Chekhov for shorter tales.

Search for Artemiy Lebedev, he’s probably the best and most well-known designer in Russia, he has his weekly show on Youtube (he also has travelled to all the countries in the world). But again, it depends on what you like. I watch Anatoliy Sharij (he is a Ukrainian living in Spain, his channel is in Russian), sometimes Yuri Khovansky just to laugh. I like Drobyshevsky for his anthropology lections, really there’s a lot of them.
