my native teacher said to us "it is assumed that...."
but somehow he skipped the "d" sound. I have heard that several times, he skipped that every time. why? this also happens in American drama

Actually, most of the time the added d at the end of every word normally been disregard but it should really be pronounced. As we all know it enables us to differentiate wether a word is in the present or past form of the verb.
I suggest you open it up to your teacher separately. You can talk to her about it when you are alone with her. Or if you have the chance to use such word be sure to emphasize the d so he/ she will hear it.

@taeark_L probably because we sometimes speak in a fast manner so we just completely drop the D. Simply we are lazy haha

yeah...it should be...esp. if it is use in the past form... But if it doesn't bother you that much, then it's up to you as long as your aware of it..☺☺☺

Laziness could also be the reason esp for those native speaker who doesn't mind really as long as the idea is understood by the receiver...hehehe

@Berna1004 I see.. just one more question, do Americans care about accent? I'm going to study in the US soon. although I can English fluently, my accent is not native. I visited the UK before, the British really cared about that.

I'm not so sure about that. But all I can say is that majority of them doesn't mind at all. Maybe it depends on the circumstances.
