to "grind" means to get to work, whether it is for school or a career. "rise and grind" is an expression meaning that you will wake up and get to work. I don't think it's a very common saying, but I have heard it in some places online.

I'm American and I've never heard "rise and grind."
I think you may have misheard "rise and shine," which means to wake up and be productive. (Think of the sun rising and shining at dawn.) If it really was "rise and grind," that might have been a pun on "rise and shine," with the grind part meaning coffee, since coffee is made from coffee grinds. But that would be someone's joke, not a common saying.
Probably not relatedly, but "bump and grind" means to have sex.
